Migrating from a single server exchange 2007 setup to a 3 (in time 4) server exchange 2010 setup with 2 cas/hub servers, and 2 mailbox servers running dag.
I only have one cas server at the moment, the other will be added later, but i need to plan for it.
Question is, how do i setup my cas array for both internal end external connections? Do i first create a network load balancing cluster for internal connections (casarray.domain.local), and then a second for external connections (casarray.domain.com)? And what about certificates for both the cas/hub servers? Will that be something like mail.domain.com, legacy.domain.com, autodiscover.domain.com, casarray.domain.com, casarray.domain.local?
You can set up an NLB cluster, and just have one node in it. So you can have the server, IP 10.1.1.10 and then create an NLB Array with the IP 10.1.1.12. When you get the second server installed, just add it to the array to achieve redundancy.
Or, just install the CAS and leave as is. When you get the second server, create the CAS array and NLB cluster. You would then run a command Set-MailboxDatabase DB1 -RPCClientAccessServer NLBARRAY.domain.com
