ok what happens is that when someone logs into the account for the first time and opens outlook 2007, the server is input wrong on the auto setup. It points to the internal domain (samserver.net) when it is supposed to just point to the server computer because it is techincally already a part of the domain (sam-server1). What setting do i change so that instead of it poting ot samserver.net.person. it points to sam-server1.person (if i manually change the setting it works, but i want it to auto work....)

Your description of the problem is not clear and this not ths correct forum for auto-discovery, anyways try checking the auto-discovery settings in the CAS server role for any mis-configuration.
