i have an internal IT monitoring system which sends email alerts to my email address
i'd like to be able to recieve these email alerts via my iPhone when i am out and about

can anyone tell me please what needs to happen in Exchange for this to occur?

Go to Exchange 2007. Make sure you have a current edition of the iPhone and use ActiveSync. failing that just use IMAP.

Obviously the ActiveSync is the easiest one to set up since it's probably already hot to go without you doing anything new but the IMAP thing is a quick job.

We get a lot of traffic and really prefer that people do at the very least a cursory look for instructions and then come here when they either come up blank, want clarification or something else similar. Since the iPhone has been out for years but not as long as Exchange 2003 it was reasonable to assume that someone has connected the two up before and equally reasonable that some kind soul (thank goodness there are some) would have written a formal article or at the very least blogged.
