I have inherited a network that consists of mulitple server. DC1, DC2 and exchange server in the main, all W2K and fully patched. The Exchange server had a catastrophic hardware failure which I was able to partially recover from. The recovery had innsues however and I had to wipe the RAID array and start from scratched after exporting all mailboxes and folders to pst files.I had to  rebuild the OS and then install Exchange as new.I had to install a new copy of Exchange as the clients backup tapes did not hold a complete backup of Exchange.
I am able to send and receive mail to the Administrator account. However I canoot see the AD users from the DCs in Exchage and in AD the Exchange tabs are missing from the User properties.

How do I get AD and Exchange to see each other?

OK, think I am getting somewhere, at least theoretically. When the old Exchange server crashed the AD on the two DCs was Mail enabled. Now AD does not mail enable new users or have Exchange tabs for existing users.

When I ran the install I did a ForestPrep and DoaminPrep from the Exchage CD then installed. I had a few issues to resolve before i could install but got there eventually.

I suspect that I need uninstall Exchage and repeat the processes to get AD on the 2 DCs to be mail/Exchange aware. Except when I try to do that I cannot uninstall because I have an active mailbox user on the Mailbox store (Administrator). I cannot move the mail box to another store - don't have one. Message mentions mail disable the user but i cannot see how to do that.

Thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated.

Please provide the exact error message you receive when attempting an uninstall? Also provide what Exchange version you are running on your W2K Server.
