We have two domains...  A .com and a .local...  Exchange is in the .com and the workstations are in the .local.  So...users have to login with their .com account to use Outlook internally.  Anyway, as a test, I have sucessfully set up my account on the .local to have access to my mailbox then disabled my .com account.  Things are working great...  I can get into Outlook, OWA, etc with my .local account.  I am happy.

Taking into consideration that all external logins are SSL (OWA/Activesync).  Are there any major security risks of running this way?

I have to provide justification to make the change.

The configuration you have made is quite common. I have worked on a number of sites where it has been done. Most security issues come down to the weakest link - the user. Therefore as long as the security is configured correctly it shouldn't be an issue. The authentication is secure.

Simon.
