I'm not sure what you are asking. You say you are running Exchange 2007 SP2 UR2. You then ask if you can install Exchange 2007 SP3 UR4. Answer NO. You have to upgrade your exchange ORG to Exchange 2007 SP3 first (which includes ADPrep, Schema extension, etc) before you can install any Update rollups for SP3. You can install whatever the latest update rollup is for SP2 directly.

The Answer is YES, you can install SP3 and RU4. You will have to run setup.com /ps (PrepareSchema) it's a best practice to run it as we have schema extended in SP3. Specially when you are running a BIG environment. When you run setup.exe directly what it does is, it extends the schema in the background for you. (Keep in mind it's not a good practice.) Cheers,

If you are running Exchange 2007 SP2 rollup 2, you have to do the full upgrade to Exchange 2007 SP3, and the requisite prepareschema and prepareAD. After that is complete, you can install Update rollup 4 for Exchange 2007 SP3...

Cheers, You might want to clarify your answer. At first glance it looks like you are giving him some pretty tragically incorrect advice. He has to upgrade to SP3 before installing SP3 UR4. Luckily I dont think it would even let him do it. Depending on the size of his environment, this could be quite an undertaking.

Well if its just RU4 of SP3 without installing SP3 than of course you can't Install it, It's a BIG NOOOOOOOOO. But if you have SP3 installed and you want to install RU4 than you can install it. Cheers,

Cheers, The OP stated he was running Exchange 2007 SP2 UR2. And I dont think it would have let him either, but even if he tried and failed, he would have gotten the incorrect guidance and rather than fully planning out a SP3 upgrade, may have tried to just "do it" inside his window. Depending on the size of his environment, a SP2 to SP3 upgrade could take HOURS.
