I am running Exchange 5.5 on a Windows 2000 server.
Things were running fine this morning but low a behold users Outlook started locking up. I tried to reboot the server but it would just hang there so I was forced to do a "dirty shutdown". Once the server was back up Exchange worked for a short bit then Outlook started locking up again. I did a dirty shutdown one more time and the same thing happened. This time I tried to shut down the exchange services alone and the error that it took too long came back.

I am not getting any error in the logs. My priv.edb is a little over 6gb.

I am up in the air as to what to do now.

Any suggestions?

What else changed around the time of the lockups?

What Exchange SP and hotfixes are installed?

Is all your diagnistic logging set to maximum for the Information Store?

Are you doing any server monitoring, checking standard things like avaulable memory, CPU usage, disk page rates, etc?

Have any of your disks run short of space?
