Hopefully a quick and simple question....

When sending mails to 2 or more external recipients I would expect Exchange to send out one mail to the Smart host (being my ISP's SMTP servers) and then the mail be split and routed to all the recipients from there, meaning I only send out one file. It appears that at the moment the mails are being split on Exchange and then all the mails are being routed to the ISP's SMTP server.

Is this the norm or is there a way to change this? As I have limited bandwidth this is an issue as I often have to send out 3MB files to 5 or more people so this hammers my connection when sending out 15MB plus rather than one 3MB file to the smart host and then letting them bear the brunt so to speak....

Any thoughts??

You would expect incorrectly.
The sending server does the breakdown.
