I am considering recovery for all the DR situations that can occur. One that strikes me is where we lost internet and inter-datacentre connectivity in the primary datacentre. The copy queue length on the primary datacenter builds up and we have to switch the secondary data live.

If we simply switch the secondary datacentre live we will have dataloss.

Is there any way we can circumvent data loss in this scenario?

Ie. copy the logs across manually? Is there a way to reinject the lost logs at a later date?

Or do we just have to acceppt that we will lose data?

The short answer is, you are almost certainly going to have to live with some data loss when doing any kind of datacentre failover.

You can use DAC mode on the DAG to control switchover, which might allow you more control over what does and doesn't get switched/lost.

Also, does this help? :-

Yes I am using DAC mode. I dont have a problem with switchover. Its more the case that if i have to move to the secondary datacentree and the copy queues are high in the primary - is there any preventative action i can take to account for this? or any remediation or post failover action to try to recover any potential dataloss?

Manual copy of log files? reinjection of logs files somehow?
