Hi all,

I need to find an SMTP address which needs removing. I've tried using the ldp tool but this was unable to find anything.

Apart from searching manually through the properties on every public folder is there another way?

Thanks in advance
Ken

Hi :)

You can use Active Directory Users & Computers to find it.

1. Open ADUC (dsa.msc), click View and enable Advanced Features.
2. Find the object called Microsoft Exchange System Objects and select it. This object contains a list of your public folders.
3. Click the View menu again and click Add/Remove Columns
4. Add the E-mail Address column, click OK and re-navigate to the Microsoft Exchange System Objects object.

HTH!

Lewis

Hi tcs, no need to apologise mate, we've all been new at things before :)

I'm having to take a stab in the dark because I'm away from work at the moment so can't get to the usual bits and bats to check.

I'm sure you can do this within Exchange System Manager by navigating to the Public Folder section and bringing up the Properties of the target folder. You may be able to change the SMTP address in there. If not then you might be able to do it within ADUC. I'm sorry I can't be more specific right now but I'll repost tomorrow if I'm wrong.

HTH

Hi tcs,

I was right with my first guess (woo!) but with one caveat, the folder has to be mail enabled (which I'm sure it will be since it has an SMTP address ;)

To re-iterate: ...by navigating to the Public Folder section of Exchange System Manager, expanding Administrative Groups > Folders > Public Folders and selecting the target. Then bring up the Properties of the target folder where you will be able to change the SMTP address on the E-Mail Addresses tab.

Hope this helps :)

Cheers. That will help with the second part of my task. I'll give you some background if it will make my situation clearer as I haven't explained myself very well.

Something happened to the original public folder (not sure if it was moved or deleted), this had the address of helpdesk@company.com. The normal admin guy (who is now on holiday) has created another folder and the email address is helpdesk3@company.com

The original email address is shown in ADUC > Exchange System Objects along with the new address. If I look in Exchange System manager I cannot find the old address/folder anywhere but I can see the new one fine.

I need to change the old address to something esle and rename the new one as helpdesk@company.com.

Clear as mud??!!
