Hi, guys We have plans to migrate to Exchange 2007 in our organization. We are now using non-exchange mail server. Now we are testing the exchange 2007 beta 2 server. We want to setup some mail accounts on this mail server, but leave others on non-exchange server in the same mail domain. Is there an easy way to put this kind of setup to work? Thanks G

Thank you for your answer. I want to do this: All mails from Internet come to primary server, then if user isn’t on this server route mail to Exchange server. On this primary server I made this: If recipient not found in this mail server, relay the message via SMTP to another server. I have the same mail domain. Now, I want to do this: if recipient not found in exchange server, relay the message to primary server. How can I relay (forward) message from exchange server to primary non-exchange server in the same mail domain? I don’t want to create all mail users on exchange server. By, G

Then you need to use one of the methods in below MS KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321721

That link is for the 2000/2003 servers... Does anybody have any clue how to do the same with 2007? We have very decentralized structure, but one common SMTP address space. Our Exchange 2003 configured exactly as it is described in the article, but with 2007 I can't find similar settings... I found only the following settings relevant to the desired configuration: Organization Configuration->Hub Transport->Accepted Domains a. Authoritative b. Internal Relay Domain c. External Relay Domain But I can't clarify what option is the right one from documentation. Sincerely,

I’m on the same boat here to. One of our clients would like to migrate from non-Exchange mail environment to Exchange 2007. Has to be done like a week ago. No idea where to start. Microsoft docs and help files talks about migrating/coexisting between older version of Exchange but NOTHING about non-Exchange scenarios.

I can confirm that Internal Relay worked for me.... But it is still a complete mystery why and how it works... and how the routing decisions are affected by that setting.... All docs points that there are some AD trusts etc should exist for that option to work... we don't have such forests or trusts... I can say - MS released the products with a huge holes in documentation... Most knowledge I've got from forums and blogs about how e2k7 operates... Sincerely, Maxim
