I have two domain controller in my organization
DC01
10.0.0.16/24 with DNS as 10.0.0.16 and 10.0.0.17
DC02
10.0.0.17/24 with DNS as 10.0.0.17 and 10.0.0.18

I have two servers installed with CAS Role installed with
CAS-01
172.17.17.11/24 with DNS as 10.0.0.16 and 10.0.0.17
CAS 02
172.19.19.11/24 with DNS as 10.0.0.16 and 10.0.0.18

Also I have MB/HT servers installed in DAG
MB-01
172.20.20.15/24 with DNS as 10.0.0.16 and 10.0.0.17
MB-02
172.20.20.16/24 with DNS as 10.0.0.16 and 10.0.0.17
and separate NIC for replications as
10.0.0.10
10.0.0.11

Now the issue is that once first domain controllers goes offline for any reason, users are not able to access the mailbox. when I checked the event log for Event number 2080 I have seen both my DC are getting detected

I even tried setting static configuration using
set-exchangeserver
but what I observed that one of the CAS shows
StaticGlobal Catalog as well as StaticDomain Controller as both the DC and also it shows current Globalcatalog and StaticDomain Controller as both the DC but same is not true for CAS-02 and MB-01 & MB-02

Can somebody explain me what kind of issue this can be ??

I am not sure but it sounds like a permission issue. Can you please post the 2080 event from your application log?

Hi, Ummm do you mind copying the ENTIRE message please?

Also try rerunning Exchange setup with the /PrepareDomain switch. This will reset the permissions on the domain controllers (will not affect your existing user connections)!

Event 2080
Process MSEXCHANGEADTOPOLOGYSERVICE.EXE (PID=4676). Exchange Active Directory Provider has discovered the following servers with the following characteristics:

In-site:
dc-02.localdomain    CDG 1 7 7 1 0 1 1 0 1

It looks like DC-2 doesnt have the required "netlogon" permission. Go ahead and run the exchange setup with the /PrepareDomain switch.

No issues at all! This is not going to stop any services on any server and it is not going to remove any roles or settings...this task will simply check for the valid permissions and add them for exchange - perfectly safe to run in production.

how many dcs do you have , and how many of this dcs are running exchange.
when you said the dc failed what error messages are you getting . Make sure
the dns server works fine .If you have another server promote the server and make it a global catalog .

I have tried preparing domain again using setup.com /preparedomain switch but after this also the event 2080 shows the same value

We have two GC's configured for a single domain only
We have two MB+HT+CAS servers in DAG
We have two CAS Servers one on internet facing & one on Intranet
We have two Edge Servers

I will start with a system overview. We have a parent/child domain setup. For
example the parent domain is parent.com and the child is child1.parent.com.
There are two domain controllers in parent.com and two in child.parent.com. A
glabal catalog server exists in the parent and child. We have one site
because the links are fast.
