I have an Exchange 2007 server running on Server 2003 Ent R2 x64. My DC's are Server 2003 Ent. R2 x86. The Exchange server is runnig the Hub Transport, CAS, and Mailbox server roles. I am in the process of replacing my 03 DC's with virtual 2008 Ent R2 x64 DC's. I have replaced all but one and it is the one that Exchange is using for the GC. The ADAccess event on the Exchange server show that all the DC's are available GC's but, if I use the Set-ExchangeServer cmdlet to set StaticGlobalCatalogs Exchange stops working. Reporting that it can't find the Global Catalog for the domain. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for any assistance.

I have figured out my problem. What I disovered is that my new 2008 domain controllers was not listed in the WMI filter of the Default Domain Controllers GPO. Which prevented the Default Domain Controller policy to be appliled to the 2008 DC's. Because of this the exchange server did not have Monitor and Audit access the the new 2008 DC's.

This seems to indicate that a global catalog server cannot be reached. When we ran a dcdiag, it listed the child server trying to contact the parent domain's
