Hi all
Someone please help me out on this.
I have just managed to re-install exchange server 2000 on my domain.
When I start my System Manager and click on Global settings,
I get an error saying Global Catalog not found.
Well, I have a DC running and it is advertising global catalog (I can see DS event 1119)

Following are the sequences of event logs on my exchange server which is repeated some 6 times already :

Microsoft Exchange System Attendant is starting.
Microsoft Exchange Server System Attendant, service startup complete, version 6.0 (build 4417.0). event id 1000

Microsoft Exchange System Attendant is initializing 'DSACCESS.DLL'. event id 9007

Microsoft Exchange System Attendant is loading 'DSPROXY.DLL'. event id 9006

Microsoft Exchange System Attendant is initializing 'DSPROXY.DLL'. event id 9007

Unexpected error The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.
Facility: Win32 ID no: c007054b Microsoft Exchange System Attendant occurred. Event ID 1005

Microsoft Exchange System Attendant failed to start. Event id 1004

At this point I should also say that I had changed my PDC recently and made sure that
all ROLES HAVE BEEN TRANSFERRED.

I think there's something wrong with dsaccess but can't figure out what? Dsaccess events are not showing up which should
report the DC & GC info.

One more thing... When I look up my active directory,
it shows me the ms exchange object but as an orphan/stub object without any associations.

This is a reinstallation of exchange server and I know the issues regarding this, I used the SP3 update.exe /removeorg
to remove previous exchange organization from AD, and then manually removed exchange locally, rebuilt the machine and
reinstalled exchange and the behaviour is such.

Can anyone please tell me what the problem might be ? Is it due to previous installation ? I don't think so cause installer
allows me to install exchange.

I am in desperate need of help.

Thanks in advance

regards

Hi,

Is the DNS settings on the exchange server configured to use a DNS server (your DC?) that knows about your AD??

Yes, DNS is perfectly ok, it can resolve DC hostname to IP correctly.

I did a dcdiag on my DC it shows the following:

Comparing yours to this: http://x220.minasi.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3883 seems to drive your problem back towards the DCs. As you know, Exchange don't work if the DCs aren't working/properly.
Might be a good idea to take this questions into the AD newsgroups in the first instance and de-focus from Exchange for now.

Do you have more than 1 DC?

Is your Exchange on a DC?

do you have a DC/DC's that currently own all 5 FSMO roles?
