Hi
Threr is a Problem in My Exchange ..
I have Windows 2003 and Exchange 2003 SP2
The problem started when the Information Stor has been suddenly Unmonted ...
when I try to mont it an error message appear telling me (some thing like this )
Unable to Mount the information stor ensure that the system Attended service running and the Information store .. and restat the system manager
I check the Event Viewer and found these Error occuring every 1 minte from this day

MSExchangeSA
The MAPI call 'OpenMsgStore' failed with the following error:
The attempt to log on to the Microsoft Exchange Server computer has failed.
The MAPI provider failed.
Microsoft Exchange Server Information Store
ID no: 8004011d-0512-00000000
For more information, click http://www.microsoft.com/contentredirect.asp.
what I found and understand that the Information Store for this Database is Damage as it seem couse there are alot of articals talking about this and I need to restore the backup
After Checking the backup I discover that the backup are Down and not working ..
so I have to work manually on Exporting the PST from the Client and recreating a mailbox in a new database and restore the PST

after making a new database (MailBox Store) the Error still appearing every 1 Minte
I did not remove the Damage MailBox Store .. but its unmonted..
why is this error occouring

and why the exchange has crashed in this way
and how can i prevent like this disasters..

1. Make sure you didn't run out of disk space.
2. Run Exchange troubleshooting assistant.

Hi,

Thats not the error message you should be looking at. Thats the generic error message System Attendant shows when it is not able to contact the store. You need to look for errors relating to MSExchangeIS. Check the disk for errors which is getting the store down every time. Stop the antivirus on the server. Check the app log in detail.

Were you able to run the troubleshooting assistant? If that didn't help run dr watson in debug mode, start your sa service then take a look at the debug output.

Ok what's the current status now? Does it mount than dismount? What's currently working or not working, explain the symptoms and provide all errors that are showing in your eventviewer relating to exchange.

Ok, so you've mounted a new store and this works, but you cannot mount your existing store. Can you post all application error events prior when it first dismounted?

Thanks for the log. Unfortunatley, the logs are just full with the same error, so I can't see what occured what happened before it dismounted. From researching the 9175 there could be multiple reasons.

http://www.eventid.net/display.asp?eventid=9175&eventno=614&source=MSExchangeSA&phase=1

With the limited information and to mitigate downtime, I would suggest restoring your exchange backup to your recovery storage group.

>the really bad thing is all answer are Missing LOG files or E00 and have to be >restored

If you have the database, but are missing the log files. Then try this. Move the log files that correspond to this db ONLY, to another folder. Then mount the DB, if it was in a clean shutdown state, what should happen is that it will say see that no log files exist and it will recreate them and get you to mount. I believe it will only work if the store was in a clean shutdown state. You can verify this by either running eseutil \mh or by running exchange troubleshooting assistant which will tell you as well.

As far as how to prevent, not sure because we don't know what the root cause was. Just ensure that you have backups and you are validating your backups and testing them for disaster recovery situations. Also make sure you're not scanning critical exchange folders as they can cause corruption and quaratine log files.

When you mount the store and fails next time, please post the error message in the pop up box. No it will not affect your existing store.

>how can I make a scandisk for the server
>to prevent errors.

Not sure what you mean, you can perform a windows checkdisk to look for bad sectors.

Checkdsk is for physical disk issues. The issue is more of a logical issue. Is your existing mountable database and unmountable database on the same drive? Also can you post the event id that occurred right after you tried to mount? Also run through this article.

Thanks for the Artical
But as I notice that this apply to Exchange 2000 only
not 2003
I dont know weather this work on 2003
what about the check disk
I mean what if the chkdsk mark the database as damage ( forany resone) lost cluster- bad sector - not match with the File table . ....

one another thing happend

The exchange has stop and all users can send mail .. but no user recive ...
its a local
I ensure that the SMTP is running .. but it was not
when I try to start it , I have an error message stating that the SMTP Fail to start
I check what this service depend on and i found that it depend on IIS Admin and this service was down
when I start it, it wont start ..an error message appear telling me that this service can not start .. if its a  non-microsoft serive then please contact the vendor
I uninstall the SMTP service and the NNTP and it take more than 30 Minte for uninstalling, then I had reinstall the service and the install work quick
when I open the IIS I notice that the NNTP is listed but the SMTP is not
although its installed and the service status is started ..
I check Microsoft .. and I found that this is an issue with IIS
and there is a file need to be registed
regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\inetsrv\smtpcons.dll
after doing so .. the SMTP has been listed but
the other problem appear when finding the Routing engin is not started when i try to start it .. it keep failing tell me that the program configured to run is not service
the problem fixed after reisntalling the IIS and the Exchange /reinstall

it seem that this server have an Over load
the Paging file of the virtual Memory size is 4.5 GB and the Server memory are 1 GB
this server as I notic is havlly loaded with services
like
Trend office scan server - SQL Server and Exchange and some other small service
Trend is taking about 1 GB and the SQL is 1.5 and the Store is 1 GB
I wonder when another disaster is comming but I feeling it .. its so close
This server will be replaced within a 10 days
I hope that these days will run fine .

I find it a big problem having SQL and Exchange on the same server, and it's not recommended, as store.exe uses as much memory as it thinks it needs.  It's supposed to release that memory when other programs ask for it, but I have sat and watched the store.exe actually take more as other programs come up.  There is the /3GB /USERVA=3030 switch, add that to the boot.ini file see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/328882 which helps with memory.  SQL is a hog too though, so both on one server isn't recommended.
