I have ISA 2004 and Exchange with AD at back. Mail from in and out works perfect. Most of the doamins - no problems.
But, users cannot send mail to hotmail. There is no such rule or anything to block this.
When people send mail from hotmail, mail does comes in - no problem. Only the internal users cannot send to hotmail. The message keeps staying to Queue and just users get undeliverables message.
There are some other domains - which is also showing this pattern....
Is there anything I'm missing here or it could be the virus....or e-mail address hi-jack.....

Disabling NDR's can have it's benefits, but makes troubleshooting issues like the one you experience so much harder.

Yes, that is true. don't you think that external ndr and internal ndr could have done some kind of better jobs...
tell me what to do next ?
If I enable NDR, millions of messages needs to be sent for NDR....those dammn <> messages.....
Does, MS or you have any solutions for this....
Even when I last spoke with MS, even they suggested to turn off NDR....
But, Exchange 2000 nor Exchange 2003 has that internal ndr and external ndr things, it is hard

I have the same problem for AOL, Hotmail, and Yahoo. I cannot send to them. DNS is correct etc. I think it may be pix firewall issue.

We just 'upgraded' from Wingate to ISA and are experiencing similar problems (this is one of many)...about 5 domains that we regularly send to now time out in the queue...since we didn't have this issue prior to ISA I am presuming it is ISA...or at least how ISA is communicating with Exchange.

2 thoughts... 1) turn of EDNS. the enhanced dns service has a packet size aol and hotmail reject and therefore the server can't resolve the MX records 2) you're on a Dynamic DNS or other means to be blacklisted from these mail servers. check to see if you're blacklisted on mail abuse sites.

I have had the same problem. It was resolved by contacting the ISP, having them fix the RDNS. AOL, Earthlink, Yahoo, Hotmail etc. all worked after that.
