I've been experiencing this weird error. I'm using W2k SP3 and Exch2K SP3, all users can login fine to OWA, no issues with the firewall, but when I try to logoff, I get an HTTP 500 Error page, this didn't happen a few weeks ago.

I searched the MS Knowledge Base and found a procedure to re-create the application of the BIN sub dir in the ExchWeb site, but it didn't work.

Maybe I have some file system or IIS security stuff mixed up.

Any Ideas on how to fix this?

I had a similar problem and it ended up being a problem with IWAM_ComputerName account password.
When a user logs out check your system log. If you are getting a W3SVC error followed by a DCOM error. Check out the following knowledge base articles Q269001 & Q269367. I had to change the password for IWAM_ComputerName, followed the articles and then restarted the server.

Good Luck!

I don't think my sugesstion may be of some use but you can try this in the MMC go to IIS and click the server in the IIS for the default webpage if its shows a red errors for the exchange files then stop the IIS for default web page and the restart it this work sometimes but not an assured solution try it if that don't work then you can follow what Jcode has suggested thats a better idea than what i can say
good luck

jsuboh;

I'm having the same HTTP 500 error.

I'm sure you really believe in your fix, but with all due respect - it is really just an elaboration of MS TechNet Article #Q318239.

We've been there, done that. What might be helpful would be a checklist of IIS and directories where the fault may lie.

I have contacted Microsoft for both Exchange and IIS and They don't know what is happening. The fix I tried seems to work - I also used another variant.

If your Already at High (Isolated)
follow the steps and change it to Medium (pooled)
Close Internet Information Services
Then Reopen Internet Information Services and follow the steps again but this time change it back to High (Isolated).

I don't know why this happens but the solution works for me and I only do this if I reboot my server.

As for a permanant fix please let me (US)know if you find one.

Thanks -J-

Thanks jsuboh;

I've tried all the fixes on this page to no avail. [Frown]
I'm pushing this topic back up in hopes someone else will see it.
