I am trying to get activesync autodiscover to work and am having problems.

One CAS server in DMZ (no isa):
Internal URL = mail.domain1
External URL (OWA & Activesync) = mail.domain.com (SSL CERT on this site & directories)

I ran Set-ActiveSyncVirtualDirectory -Identity “COMPUTERNAME\Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync (Default Web Site)” -ExternalURL “https://servername.com/“

I added an SRV record

I have done testing 3 ways:

Testexchangeconnectivity.com it goes through until this error:

ExRCA is attempting to send an Autodiscover POST request to potential Autodiscover URLs.
Autodiscover settings weren't obtained when the Autodiscover POST request was sent.
Test Steps
Attempting to Retrieve XML AutoDiscover Response from url https://mail.domain.com/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml for user user@domain.com
Failed to obtain AutoDiscover XML response.
Additional Details
An HTTP 500 response was returned from Unknown

Test 2
Ran test-outlookwebservices on the server and get:

1013 Error When contacting https://mail.domain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml received the err...(sorry, can't get powershell to give the rest)
1006 Error The Autodiscover service could not be contacted.

Test 3Went to https://mail.domain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml, got prompted and received an invalid request 600

Can someone point me in the right direction to diagnose?

Step #1: move the CAS back into your environment and out of the DMZ.
Step #2: have your firewall send port 443 to the CAS server.

If that does not fix it, go read up on CAS and OWA/EAS in the documentation again. The whole thing is so simple, really, that you should not be having any issues.

Thanks, I will give that a try during our next maintenance window and report results.
