Hi, i have an exchange server sending e-mails to the outside world directly through DNS, i would like to hide the Message ID in all e-mails sent outside cause it's giving information about my local domain address. (I can't believe that i'm giving away my server's and my domain's name!!)
I was able to change some info in the headers by setting a Masquerade Domain in the Smtp protocol's advanced properties, also there is a trick by using an smtp connector using some ISP smtp server... but none of them was able to hide or change the information in the Message-ID field.
I want to know if it's possible and how to do it please

Example: Message-ID: e95f401c41761$40ce6070$4301280a@companydomain.com

I'm calling all the Experts out there..... Henrick... I really need your help guys!

Thanks a lot!

I am hoping someone has an answer for this by now!

I also need to hide my message-id, but I'm currently using Exchange 2007.

Anyone able to help?

Thanks

B

In exchange 2003 you can achieve that by using SMTP Sinks.

For exchange 2k7, it should be a command for the smtp send connector, take a look at this link http://exchangepedia.com/2008/05/removing-internal-host-names-and-ip-addresses-from-message-headers.html

The command would look like this but for Message-ID instead of the hearders as it's shown here:

Get-SendConnector “Connector Name” | Remove-ADPermission -AccessRight ExtendedRight -ExtendedRights “ms-Exch-Send-Headers-Routing” -user “NT AUTHORITY\Anonymous Logon”

Hope that helps you

Thank you for the response.

The Shell command you mention removes the Headers but not the message-id info showing the server name and domain name.

I have successfully removed the headers, i just need to remove the domain name shown under the message-id.

I no it sounds suspicous, but the company has mutliple business names that they would rather not appear.

What i meant in my example is to give you an idea on the smtp connector shell command filters, i don't have a exchnage shell handy so i can test the command for you. Try to experiment a bit using the same shell command but with different filters.
