There is high traffic on my exchange server. Kindly advice on what could be responsible for the traffic and possible solution to eradicate the traffic resulting to IP abuse from my Internet Service Provider

Its probably due to spam, which has reached about 90% of all mail these days. Getting hold of a good antispam product will help a lot or get your ISP to filter out all spam before it reaches your mail server.

Any free antispam filter exist that can be integrated to exchange 5.5? Currently I am using Symantec Antivirus for SMTP Gateway that uses DNS Block list (spamcop, spamhaus, sorbs) but I think its not enough. Can anybody suggest?

Your asking for a free product that does a good job by integrating into a legacy product long out of support.

Those are 3 mutually exclusive criteria.

If you have the time and kit and don't have the money, set up a linux smarthost that sits between your Exchange server and the Internet, and set it up to use spamassassain.
