I have a server which is running Exchange 2003.
I am using public folders on this server.
Someone in the organisation has deleted one of the public folders. There were also sub folders in this public folder.
External emails were going into this public folder.

What would be the best way to recover this folder.

I have tried to manually recreate the folder but this did not seem to restore the messages.

I am using the backup program of server 2003 to do a weekly exhange server backup. I am backing up the exchange folders on the server which has the database and the system state.

if i restore from the backup , would this restore the public folders.

any help would be appreciated.

hi mate,

first you try to recover the delete folder from pfdavadmin if it is deleted within retention time you set for the exchange

Even i guess you try to recover from OWA itself, like http://servername/public
If that doesn't work you can go for restore

Hi,

You can use following syntax to recovery it using OWA.

Yse the syntax to try to open up the public folder where the person deleted the folder:

You will see the folder that the user wanted to recover, highlight it, click "Recover" and thats it.

Thanks I tried using the PFDAVADMIN program and was able to recover the delted folder. However some external email from another user was  going into this public folder automatically, but this does not seem to be happening now. I tried renaming the folder and associated email address (ie , remove the bit which said Recovered on the public folder.)back to its original name but this did not fix the problem.

It seems like some link has been broken. Is there anything I can try to restore this part.

Hi,

Could you try reconfiguring the forward setting and see if that works out?
