I have a Exchange 5.5 server that I want to remove from the domain. Do I have to do anything like depromote the Exchange server. I just want to make sure that when I take off the exchange 5.5 out of the domain that it doesn't leave any remains of it on the domain controller that will effect the Active directory. The Exchange 5.5 just as a note is loaded on a member server and not on the Domain controller directly.And the OS is windows 2000 server on both.If any one can help that would be great

Hi,

If the exchange 5.5 server is not part of any exchange 200x organization you can just uninstall exchange. Exchange 5.5 don't interact with active directory (unless ADC is installed which in this case should be uninstalled also).

I will give that a try and see how it goes. It should go fine I hope LOL. I was reading up on how to do it also. And Everything you said about how to remove Exchange 5.5 matches what you said. So Thanks. If you can look back at this message tomorrow just incase I need more help if thats ok with you.
