Hello everyone,

I am running Exchange 2003 behind ISA 2004 and have external users connecting via outlook from unknown IP addresses on the internet. They can receive mail but are unable to send mail (550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for xxx) to anyone except internal users in our domain.

I have Anonymous Access checked under Authentication on the SMTP Virtual Server so that I can receive inbound email. Is that correct?

Under Relay:

I added all my internal servers except the ISA Server and checked "Only the list below"

I had to uncheck the "Allow all Users which successfully authenticate..." to prevent spammers from relaying. I assume they are considered Authenticated because the Anonymous Access is on. Is that correct?

When I unchecked the Allow checkbox the Users button is now active and I have selected the users and groups that I want to allow relaying for. This does not appear to work as those users still get the 5.7.1 Relay error.

Would appreciate any insights or directions for correcting this problem.

Thank you kindly.

Cheers, Martin
