Hello,

I have two exchange 2000 under same site. Both servers are running windows 2000, domain controllers, global catalog servers. I just restored the mailbox store backed on server1 on server2, then I unplugged the network cable so that server2 is disconnected from the network.

I ran the clean agent, all mailboxes in restored mailbox store are disabled. I created a new user named userA in AD users and computers MMC, and ran the Exchange task to remove Exchange attributes from the specific user, say user001. Then I switch to Exchange system manager MMC to reconnect the mailbox to userA. All those steps above are completed without error.

I used a Win98 notebook to connect to server2 with a crossover cable, the connection between two computers works. I try to create a outlook profile for userA. At this step, I cannot connect the userA mailbox with error saying the name does not exist. No matter what I supplied server name "server2" or IP address in the exchange server box, it does not connect the mailbox.

Any idea?

Many thanks,
Pakeon

I found a solution to reconnnect the disabled mailbox to user. It is required to use ldifde to update AD to reflect the new server name.
