Hi, I did a search but didn't find anything. Could be my search term (auto replies, resume). Anyway, I'm not sure how to accomplish what I want so I need some adivce/guidance. Currently, we have a distribution list for resumes@(ourdomain).ca. When an email is sent to that address they go to the member of that group. We want to make it so that an auto reply is sent to the sender that we got the email, etc. The member of the group does not want the email to look like it came from her so a rule on her outlook won't do. Can this be done since we are using a distribution group or must I configure this another way? Thanks

If you create user (resumes@(ourdomain).ca) and auto-forward incoming messages to the concerend staff, you can then configure Out of office for resumes@(ourdomain).ca to send an automated reply.

Hi, I think I figured it out but will do some testing to make sure. I don't want to use an Out of Office reply as that is not what this is. Rather, I need a reply saying something like " thanks for your submission.................". What I think will work is change resumes from a DL to a real mailbox. Then create a server-side rule to auto reply.

You are right.Once you create a mailbox user you can certainly enable server-side auto replies. However, changing a global setting affects all users and if you require this feature for one ID only, it maybe worth considering the alternative (client-side). Cheers!

My testing worked the way I thought and wanted. I hear you on the OOO but then the subject of the reply becomes an issue. I need to read something other than Out Of Office Reply and I'm not sure that is possible. I checked out exclaimer but with the amount of users, etc. were looking at like $2000. Don't think the company would go for that. If the ever decide to go with a disclaimer then maybe but who knows............ One thing I wonder about is how long after I delete the resume DL will exchange allow me to or auto assign the resume emial address to the new mailbox. During the down time anyone who sends to that address will get a bounceback. That wouldn't look good. Thanks
