Hello,

Is it possible to view emails or inbox for disabled user account?

I disabled a user in account in Active Directory and under Exchange Advanced tab i checked the option to "hide from Exchange address list" and I gave myself permissions to access the email account. When I try to add the mailbox in the Advanced tab under "Open these additional mailboxes" I get the message "The name could not be resolved. The name could not be matched to a name in the address list".

After I disable an account do i need to keep listed in the address book to be able to gain access to user's mailbox? But since the user is no longer working for the company I don't want to show in the address book...

Hi,

I think this is by design because when you add an account/mailbox it will query the gal for the entry. If not found it can't be added.

Unhide it just long enough so you can resolve the name. Once it resolves you can rehide it again.

It seemed that I can gain access only when unhide the account from address book then hide it again.

Sometimes I wonder why Microsoft designs application in ways that they don't make sense...why don't they gave the ability to someone who has permission to access a user mailbox when the account is disabled and hidden from address book...
