I have a box as follows

NT4 (server)
- exchange 5.5 sp4
- PDC "domain"

W2K (swing)
- active directory "tslnet"

a 2 way trust relationship exists, both admins and exchange users have the same password.

I install exchange 2000 onto swing and choose join an organisation... type in "server", it then tells me that I don't have the access to do that. I've set the users and domain admins on the exchange box under global and configuration to have admin access to exchange but still I get this error.

Need more information.

Have you gone through the Microsoft 6 steps ? Although there is some duff info, we managed to get everything to work using this.

What accounts are you using, have you run Forestprep etc ?

Permissions need to be modified at three levels on the Exchange 5.5 box. From Exchange Admin tool modify permissions at the ORG, SITE, and CONFIGURATION levels. The lowest one [configuration] will then "trickle down" to evrything below. If you want to contact me off-line bill_brown@ssp.navy.mil I will be happy to share the document that I wrote for our migration process.
