I've been delving around trying to find any information on what limitations and/or recommendations there are in regard to Exchange 2000 Enterprise information stores. The best I can find is no more than four storage groups with five information stores are allowed. Aside from this, I'm trying to find any information regarding: 1.) Maximum recommended/allowed information store size 2.) Maximum recommended/allowed individual mailbox size 3.) Maximum recommended/allowed mailboxes (per store, as well as total) Has anyone seen any numbers attached to these items?

Hiya Chap, perhaps this will help; 1.) Maximum recommended/allowed information store size Maximum size of the Information store is 16TB, however you should be looking to keep a single database in a busy enterprise to about 150 - 200 GB with as little whitespace as possible. You may get further comments on that, as everyones situation tends to be different, as does their maintenance intervals. 2.) Maximum recommended/allowed individual mailbox size This is down to personal preference, I have seen mailbox Max sizes of 41 MB - and I have also seen MB Sizes of 4GB (which is insane - personal opinion) - I personally recommend a size of around 300 - 400 MB with an archiving solution - but you should note that if you intend to use EXMERGE and you wish to export a mailbox of greater than 2 GB then you are out of luck. You should also note that a mailboxes with over 8000 items in any one folder can impact the performance of the server. 3.) Maximum recommended/allowed mailboxes (per store, as well as total) This can depend on your hardware, and disk subsystem - to give you a marker: 4GB RAM, x 2 Processors @ 3.0GHz, SAN @ 2GB connection speed I have seen comfortably run 3500 mailboxes. I hope this helps, A

Perfect. I had the feeling we were pushing our limits a little bit. 350 GB database with about 400 users, at least a third over 1 GB, and some pouring over 7. I'll relay this and any other comments up the chain. Thanks again!
