I am planning an installation of Exchange 2007 on Server 2008 R2. I am only able to download Exchange 2007 w/ SP1 from Microsoft VL site. I know SP3 is required for Server 2008 R2 so is it acceptable to install Exchange 2007 SP1 on Server 2008 R2 and then apply SP3 upgrade after the installation is complete?

A side question - is SErver 2008 R2 SP1 supported for Exchange 2007 SP3?

Thanks for the help.

Exchange Server 2007 less than SP3 on Windows 2008 R2 is not supported by Microsoft.
Yes, Windows 2008 R2 SP1 is supported for Exchange 2007, again with SP3 only.

Upgrade from SP1/SP2 to SP3 is also not supported.

You can download the file from here

Gulab has it right. You'll have to use the SP3 binary to install Exchange 2007 from scratch on your 2008R2 platform. If you use a non-SP, Sp1, or SP2 binary to install exchange 2007, you will be unable to do so on your 2008R2 platform.

Don't forget to do all the adprep /forestprep, /domainprep, etc!
