At least, I hope it is. :) I'm designing a re-vamped security and email distribution list setup for my company, using Active Directory and Exchange 2003 (we'll be upgrading to 2007 next year). I'd like to use one set of groups for both security and email distribution, which is know is possible. However, I have a question about setting this up that may preclude being able to use one set of groups only. We have a development department that has several types of employees, each with increasing levels of responsibility. Each higher level needs to have access to security and file shares of everyone below them, like so: Director | Architect | Developer So, the Director needs access to all Architect and Developer resources, and the Architect needs access to all Developer resources. Nesting groups works fine for this. However, when emailing, we don't want, say, the Director to get all emails to the Developer list. Is there a way to block nesting of groups for email purposes while allowing it for security purposes, or do I need to resign myself to using a second set of distribution groups? Thanks, John

Short answer is no. You cannot restrict the recipients of the group, that rather defeats the point. In this scenario you will have to use two sets of groups. Simon.
