Status: offline 		Basic question really, has anybody come across an easy way of securing email content being sent over the internet (ie not internal) without  the recipient needing a certificate to be installed.

Have a look at the following product from Utimaco:

SafeGuard MailGateway

The gateway generates the certificates automaticly so you don't have to install them on the clients.
