How can I log failed SMTP authentication attempts? I have setup a user with an email account on my Exchange 2003 server. He is setup in his Outlook 2003 as a POP3 Client. He can receive OK, but fails with a timeout error (0x8004210B) when trying to send.
He is an Exchange client as well (to a different mail account) on a Network Domain. I have tried allowing relaying for that domain & made some attempts at allowing different IPs. What can I do to determine what is preventing the successful authentication?

Hi,

I've read some articles on the internet about issues with firewalls which may cause this issue. Is the user using a firewall ? if so ask him to switch it of for testing.
