Hi I have an issue that occurs on my windows 2000 exchange server once in a while. It's not that often but does happen now and then.

My Information Store service stops and logs Event ID 7031. Like this

Description: The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service terminated unexpectedly.

I have researched it and have the latest exchange service pack installed. I also installed a rollup that microsoft has to fix the service from doing this.

Unfortantly it still happens. I discovered it is cause by emails that get through which usually are just html code and the "From" field is very long since it's html code. For example the from field usually starts with "<img src=".

When a user who has one of these emails opens outlook and tries to access the email it causes the Information Store service to stop. Everytime I restart the service it stops until I close that persons email in outlook or until I delete that email.

Anyone have an idea on how to prevent this from happening?
