M: drive doesn't install on Exchange 2k install

Status: offline 		The "M:" drive doesn't install with an install of Exchange 2k. I have even reinstalled the os (2k server), that didn't cure it. I have tried this three times with the same results. Any sugestions?

Does the exchange setup fail? and does the install log have any errors in it?

Status: offline 		It does not fail and there are no errors in the log, it states it was a succesfull in the load. There are no indications that any thing went wrong.

M Drive may not show up if any one of the exchange services fails, mainly the information store when it fails to mount the M drive would not show up.

You can check on the Exchange Services and or also check if the Information Store is mounted in System Manager for Exchange.

Status: offline 		also make sure you dont have a drive with M: the EXIFS dosnt like that

I have found that neither the Public Folders or Mailbox mounted, and I can't get them to mount. I tried the method that micorsoft KB gives, but that didn't change anything. I did another reinstall, with no change. Yes, there's no other M drive.

Status: offline 		I had to do that twice, both timees I reinstalled the os, the first time I did that it still had a missing m: drive, the second time I wiped everthing about Exchange out of the registry and then insalled everthing and got the m: drive. Now I have the problem I can send mail but don't seem to be receiving any mail??? This program is a real fuss pot!
PS I tried just installing Exchange when I first had the problem with the m: drive but would not fix the problem, that's why I went back and reinstalled the os.

Status: offline 		Check the NTFS perms where the actual databases are make sure system has full control. I have seen databases fail to mount due to no perms for logs to be written

I had same problem I reinstalled windows 2000 and then exchange 2000. But I never had M drive and mailbox wouldn't mount.

I deleted all the files out of the folder \Exchsrvr\MDBDATA\ on the server.

I then tried to mount mailbox again and it worked fine and M Drive was created.

Status: offline 		Make sure that there is at least 20mb of free space on the drive where the log files are stored. If there isn't enough space for Exchange to create the log files, then nothing will happen. Is the Information Store service running?
