For some reason the mdbdata folder will fill up with 5mb log files, I have been running Incrimental Backups nightly and fulls weekly but it will not delete the logs. I have had to stop the system attendent and delete them almost on a daily basis. I have just been using the NTBACKUP feature until funds come free to buy a tape system. I have considered Enabling Circular logging until a better solution can be found. Any other ideas would of great help.
Thanks

Hello. My experience with Exchange has shown that normal backup software will not purge the committed log files. Even with Backupexec you'll need to purchase the exchange agent to successfully have the logs purged. Until then I'd recommend using a seperate hard drive for the log files (move them via the ESM).

Something to try until you have the $$ to mvoe up: I have had the same issue with NTbackup - log files not getting flushed after a full backup. Typically, it will work for a while, and then for some unknown reason, it will stop flushing the logs even after completing a successfull full backup. I haven't been able to find the reason why that happens yet, but usually, if I delete the job and re-create it, it works again. I know it's a pain, but at least you are getting good backups. Also, NTbackup is Exchange and Cluster aware, so it is fine for backing up your Exchange environment until you can get a more scalable solution. Just a thought.
