Hi

1) I have installed Ms Exchange Enterprise Edition. Since then Windows LogOff and Shutdown has become too slow.

Installed the same Exchange server on another Machine, that too has become too slow on shutdown and logoff.

Why has it become too slow, any idea. Is it normal or could it be fixed?

2) I can logon to Ms Exchange only with Domain Administrator Account, with all other accounts, on entering user ID and password, i get the same prompt again and again to re-enter correct ID/Password (implying user id or password entered was wrong when actually it is correct)

Do i need to set any credentials for each account or anything ?

Thanks

An Exchange server does very different things when logging off versus shutting down.  Shutting down first attempts to dismount the Stores.  If they are active, it can take longer.

Logging off shuts down any processes initiated after logging in.  Both symptoms could be signs that your server is busy.

Is the machine a domain controller? If so that can make a big difference to shutdown times.

Simon.

Before I reboot my mail server I always manually dismount all mailbox stores first.  This way I know the stores have shutdown cleanly.  Just rebooting without shutting down the stores first could result in a corrupted store that will not mount after rebooting.  I credit Dean Uemura and this blog for this.
