We have 1 NT4 Exchange 5.5 server up and running.
I want to add a second NT4 Exchange 5.5 server, and that server has to replicate with the firts one. The second server has finally have to take over, so the 1st one can be shut down. How do I install the 2nd server. Do I have to make it a member of the 1st server site? And what about the naming of the 2nd server, does it have to have the same (organisation, site, servername)?

Hello Niels,

Join the new server to the site and replication between the servers in the site will happen automatically. If you change the "cost" factors on your connectors, the new server will take over delivering mail. As to finally removing the old server - search MS knowledge base - there is a special article for removing the 1st server in a site. Additional things that come to mind are the Offline Address Book and Free-Busy schedules.

Good luck!

The KB article Bill is refering to is http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;152959, and you need to make sure you follow this carefully before finally removing the first server in the site. Don't rush this.
