Mailbox Audit Logging - 18.Jul.2013 6:25:14 AM

I am investigating the use of mailbox audit logging on a shared mailbox. The mailbox is used to hold a list of 'tasks' (requests via email) from which several people can then assign said tasks to themselves.

The requirement is that we would like to audit the opening/viewing of an email due to a suspicion that individuals are opening these emails, reading the contents and then marking the email as unread if the task looks too complicated.

I believe that there was such a functionality in Exchange 2007 through the Message Access auditing facility (although I have no direct experience of it), but I'm struggling to find the same in Exchange 2010 (SP3).

It looks like the audit operation MessageBind is the 2010 equivalent, however it seems to only be applicable to the AuditAdmin role and not to AuditDelegate, which seems a little odd.

Has auditing of this type of access been lost, or does somebody know of something we can configure/some third party software that might enable this?

Thanks in advance.
