I'm trying to mount an Exchange 2003 database on a different server but it fails with a corruption error.
I have the edb and stm files, and when using eseutil /mh it says they are in a "Clean Shutdown" state and requires no logs.
To copy the edb and stm files, I dismount the live store and have copied the files using both standard windows explorer and also the eseutil /y command.
The live store and files still mounts fine.
Basically I've:
1) Built a dummy domain (I've tried both a different domain name and the same domain name) 2) Installed Exchange in the *same* organisation name and administrative group 3) Created a blank storage group 4) Created a new mailbox store 5) Ticked the "can be overwritten by a restore" box 6) Copied the old edb and stm files 7) Tried to mount
At this point it says "database files are corrupt"
Then when I run eseutil /mh it says they are in a "Dirty Shutdown" state.
I tried to copy the files using eseutil /y but the same happens.
I've also used a recovery storage group but the same happens.
I've tried eseutil /p and /d but then this just empties the DB files down to a few MB.
There is an error in the eventvwr about page checksum mismatch etc.
Any suggestions as to how I can get this to mount?

It seems that your Exchange database file is severely damaged and hard recovery (eseutil /p) command line tool is unable to solve the issue. You are getting emptied database because eseutil /p tool is destructive by nature and it deletes the damaged database pages during repair process. Hence, you need to use a third party Exchange database recovery tool like this:http://www.recover-computerdata.com/exchange-server-recovery.html This is one of the most globally used Exchange recovery applications to repair and rebuild the corrupt database. One of the best aspects of this application is that after rebuilding the database, you can directly mount it to the Exchange server. The tool is compatible with Exchange server 2010, 2007, 2003, 2000, and 5.5.
