I am having an issue with mailbox limits.
Clients are going over their mailbox limit, then cleaning their mailbox down and checking the folder size by looking at the properties of their mailbox in outlook. This figure is under the limit, however within Exchange it states a larger figure over their limit.

Has anyone else come across this?

Is there a tool we can use to check the integrity of the database?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Good day fluffywhite,

If you are using global limits this may occur itĘs not often but I have seen this. Are all limits different to the global IS limit?

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=319583 this document may help you.
If you are using exchange 5.5 you can use this utility for the integrity
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=http://support.microsoft.com:80/support/kb/articles/q182/9/03.asp&NoWebContent=1

or this one called isinteg http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/en/55/help/default.asp?url=/exchange/en/55/help/documents/server/xmt04034.htm

to change limits open the exchange admin MMC
open the Recipients container. double click the userĘs mailbox
click on the limits tab here you can change limits for the specific user

H,

Xkey -- NEW -- from Seaside Software
Xkey replicates the contents of your Exchange mailbox onto a miniature USB appliance that fits on your keychain. Simply plug it into any PC ū online or off - to work with all Exchange data: emails, calendar, contacts and tasks. Xkey requires no installation, setup, or configuration ū just your username and password.

Hi. You can use ESEUTIL to check the Consistency of the Databases, keep in mind this:

1. You must Defrag the database to see the real size of the Database

2. If you made an Online Backup your Logs files desapear but the EDB files are the same

3. Its a good Practice made an Offline Maintenance of the Dababases on regular times (Once per Month) Depending of the size of your EDBs.

If you want to have a tool to Extract the EDBs to another format like PSTs, you can use Exmerge (Microsoft Downloads) with this tool you can create Filters to Clean the Old user Mails.

Please read this http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;822938&Product=exch2003

Regards
