Hi
We have a mail enabled public folder, but when people from the outside post a mail to it it arrives as a Note and not a mail.
Any ideas of what could cause this
Thanks
Tim

Try this. Right click on the folder and go to properties. On the General tab change the when posting to this folder use: change post to message. Let me know if this does work please.

Hi Amy
Thanks for helping out.
I have found the setting you explained, however I only have the options mail item and formulars. Right now it says input item. If I choose formulars i can choose between the standard formulars such as "Message". But if I select message or anyone else i get an error message that I cannot create an item of this type in this folder.
NB! the error message and names might not be exact as I am using a localised version of outlook and are translating back to english.
Now back to the problem. Another tab says formulars and here it says all formulars are accepted.
Even if i make a new public folder and specify the items "tasks". Once created I am not able to change back to mail item or message.
Any Ideas!. I am logged in as an administrator and the owner of the folders i am messing with.
Tim

hi
you could rename the email address you have on the public folder and then make a new public folder with the right address and see if the problem is still the same

Thanks for helping out
I will have a look at the scripts from Mark to see what they do, I am not much into scripting, so I will proberly have a co-worker look at them.
The solution from Dennis sounds like a relatively easy work around, that might come in handy.
Unfortunately I have other urgent work to attend to right now, but when i get to try it out I will let you know how it went.
Once again
Thanks a lot.

Hi
I found a solution to my problem. It turned out that the people administrating the public folders didn't mail directly from the public folder. They had a rule forwarding mail to their own mailboxes.
This rule stopped working cause the mail entering the folder was saved as notes and not messages.
I set up forwarding on the folders through system manager delivery options and it suided my needs.
Before i got this far I found a MS Q-article that might help other in a simular situation(Q292484)
It explains some easy workarounds that like my solution is not perfect. and ends up guiding you to the msdn to help you make a soultion like the one Mark suggested, but were a little to hardcore for me.
Cheers Tim
