Hello,

I have two exchange 2003 servers and one in a parent domain (abc.com) the other in child domain  (xyz.com). We have setup Recipent Polices for domain spaces on each, however before we migrate the child domain  and I need to have their email forward to thier old system. So under the recpipent policy for the Child domain I unchecked that exchagne org is responsible for mail delievery  on xyz.com and I created a smart host that forwards the mail to the proper route, however none of the mail is routing. I believe its still trying to over the exchagne org. Is there something else misssing that I need to do. BTW - before the exchange server was placed in the child domain the smart host was routing all of the mail properly. So I believe all the firewalls and dns entries are working properly.

any help is appericated it.

Yes, currently the messages are in the "Messages with an unreachable destination" queue. I've tried restarting the smtp queue a few times.

thanks

Claud,

Double click one of the messages in the queue and check to which server they try to connect. If you like you can also check the smtp log files if you want.
Can you tell how the SMTP connector and internet connectors are configured ?

Ok, so I did a test will a email address that doesn't have exchange box listed in the child domain and its was sent immediately. It seems to be with address that have exchange boxes. what do i need to do to tell exchange to route those emails over the smtp connector temporarily while we get our system prepared for migration.

Hi,

I don't think this is possible. If you want to do this you need to ensure that mail to the specified domain is delivered directly to the temporarily mailserver.
