Hello,

since this is my first post I'm not sure if I post in the right category (if wrong please move
it to the right one thx).

Setup here:

Server in Germany (Exchange 5.5 SP 2) and France
(Exchange 5.5 SP 3) connected via Site Connector
over Frame Relay Line.

Problem: No problems during normal work days at office hours (Mo-Fri 09:00-19:00) but problems at weekends and nighttime (every night of the week).
Messages are not delievered from France for several hours then suddenly all at once.

Experience: People here have the impression that
these "packets of mail" come once a mail was sent from Germany to France (based on experiences).

Suspicion: Mails are queuning up in France and waiting for a mail from Germany to "trigger" the send.
During normal work days and office hours mails are sent in a short interval to France so I think that why it went all that time unnoticed.
Only recently we some departments start to work
nearly 24/7.

I suspect that maybe in older times (I'm with this company for 1 1/2 years now) dial-up was used and therefore the line wasn't open all the time so they used this method to "trigger" the sending of these mails when the line was open.

I think I remember something like that from my MCSE exams way back (either on the NT Server or on Exchange).
I searched in various Exchange faqs and the MS Knowledge base but I couldn't find something
so far.

Please help me since although we will use a workaround that will hopefully work (sent a mail all 10 min to Paris automatically) I would like to know the reason and find out how to really solve this issue.

By the way: The frame line is always in use (transfering data) so I don't think it's the setup of the frame.

Thank you

Regards

Dirk_ESP
