Hi everyone, In my organisation, i have to install a new exchange server. At this moment, we have 2 win2k domain controllers. On one of the dc's, exchange 2000 is installed. Because of several performance problems, we have to replace that server, so we bought a new one: Dell PE 2950 with 64bit processor Software : Win2k3 server 32/64bit, exchange 2007. Can anyone give me some info about the best migration steps ? First, domain/forestprep on the old w2k dc's Install windows 2003 64-bit (or 32-bit) OS on the new server Promote new server to the existing domain. Upgrade old dc's to win2k3 Install exchange 2007 on new server. Move mailboxes Are these the correct steps ? Thx

I'm just novice, but think you must : zero, pray and look for all testsand backups you'll have to do on each following step ... first, upgrade your AD domain/forest minimum to 2000 Native with at least one Win2003SP1 DC/GC by site (32 or 64bit, no trouble) second, verify your Exchange organization is in native mode third, preinstall then install your Exchange2007 server on a dedicated 64bit win2003sp1 server (REALLY NOT recommended to install it on a DC, just like for 2K Exchange) and join the existing Exchange Organization. fourth, test connectivity between your Exchange servers and outside, fifth, replicate all public folders you have (IPM/NonIPM) sixth, move all mailboxes you want to hold from the 2k to the 2k7 Exch Server. seventh, decommission exch2k server (uninstall the application on the server) eight, champaign !
