I replaced the bridgehead server with another one on the SMTP connectors. However, I didn't take affect immediately. Stopping and restarting the routing engine and smtp services didn't do the job. I had to reboot the box to get this going.  I never had to reboot the exchange box in the past for doing this. Why?

My understanding is that restart of SMTP should have cleared those queues - however since you have made changes to AD (configuration partition) - when ever Exchange reboots it takes the information directly from AD and would not wait for pulling up the information from Configuration DC.

It is just a thought - don't take me to court for the above statement
