Hi,

I am implementing a DAG for a client and have the following servers:

- EXCH01 - CAS/HUB/Mailbox
- EXCH02 - Mailbox
- EXCH03 - CAS/HUB

At the moment EXCH01 is the "live" CAS/HUB server but I want to remove the roles from here and make EXCH03 the "live" CAS/HUB server.

Is this simply a case of removing the roles from EXCH01 and repointing my firewalls to EXCH03?

I also assume that the Outlook clients (2007 across the board) will automatically know the CAS server has changed?

Sorry if these are silly questions, this is the first DAG I have setup.  I have done my research but nothing really covers moving the roles.

Hi,

It is indeed easy but don't forget to change the RPCClientAccessServer property on all mailbox databases.

get-mailboxdatabase|set-mailboxdatabase -rpcclientaccessserver server03.domain.com

This might not be changed automatically. Me recommendation is to first get everything working before removing the CAS/HUB role from the current active server

This all worked.  We did need to reboot a few clients.  I guess they had open MAPI connections to the old CAS server?
