Status: offline 		I need some ideas on the best way to move exchange to a new server. I cant loose any info from the original. We are very low on free space and i think that is why it keeps disconnecting from my clients. I could add more HD space but i have a new server with nothing on it and would like to stop using the old one. Any i ideas would be very helpful. Thanks.

Status: offline 		I read the link as I am currently looking to change my xchange server..

However my current server is a DC and I do not want the new one to be a DC.

Can I just not promote it and do the other steps?

Yes, just skip the DC related steps if you don't want to have the new server work as a DC
