Current Scenario: 1x Windows 2000 DC (domain name: xxxxx.com) 2x Windows 2000 w/Exchange 2000 Standard New Servers: 1x Windows 2003 R2 Standard x64 DC (domain name: xxxxx.local) 1x Windows 2003 R2 Standard x64 w/Exchange 2007 I want to move mailbox's from exchange 2000 to exchange 2007, I know there's the possibility to move with both exchange servers connected in the same domain, but the problem is that I am also upgrading the DC in different hardware and diferent domain name's, Is there any possibility to move for example the database from exchange2000 to the computer with exchange2007 and then procede with migration, or save users mailbox in file names and then copy acrosss exchange2007 server? ... (whatever..). What would be the best scenario ? Thanks

You could use ExMerge. To use Move-Mailbox wizard between orgs, see: http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2006/11/02/430289.aspx

ExMerge won't run on Exchange 2000 and 2007 did away with it. The only way I've heard it being done is introducing an Exchange 2k3 server and then doing it. Have you successfully run it on the 2k7 server?

Did you actually try it? ExMerge works fine with E2K7 stores.... Of course camocas would need to use an Exchange 2000 version of ExMerge.

Yes correct but the tools which replaces ExMerge will not be included before E2K7 SP1.

I am in a similar situation,Server 2000DC/Exch2000 to Server 2003/Exch2007. However, we have some users that utilize Public Folders. Can this method move those Public Folders also? Also, My internal domain name will be different than my public domain name. Do you have any tips on how to get mail that needs to flow to the internet to switch from my internal domain name to the external and vice/versa? for instance, internal domain of "corporate.local" and a public domain of "ourcompany.com". Under 2000 we just placed Exchange in the external domain so traffic flowed so we managed 2 different active directorys. I want to get away from this. Thanks, V

Using NAT on a firewall will allow you to do this. Anything going out can be translated to the public IP/domain of the mail server and vice versa. Under 2000 we just placed Exchange in the external domain so traffic flowed so we managed 2 different active directorys. I want to get away from this. Not sure why you'd use two different AD's unless you're referring to a secondary domain controller for the domain. Also not sure what you mean by putting it in the "external domain" unless you mean it was a DMZ mail server.
