I am looking into the possibility of moving the UM role off my existing Exchange 2007 server to a new server.

Does anybody have any knowledge on this?

Status: offline 		One thing I don't undertsnad is that I only want to move the UM role, not the other exchange roles, hence I want to keep the main exchnage server 'as is' meaning that the new hardware for the UM can't have the same name etc - am I correct in assuming this?

Status: offline 		the last article talks about moving the UM from the old server to new server where you want to keep the same computer name.

Status: offline 		I want to keep the existing server online with its current name, so I have to move the UM role to a new server with a new name - is it the same process?

Status: offline 		you can install UM role on the new server and configure it and then decomission the um role from the first server.
