Hello, I have just created a new exchange server 2000 (new hardware), I have moved the mailboxes / made the new server a GC server / replicated the public folders from the old server but, the public folders no longer appear in the exchange MMC I get the error: object no longer available, I think this is connected with the virtual directories in IIS, the clients can still read the public folders with the old exchange down but there is a large time delay (30 sec) every now and again, the new server seems very keen for the old server, I thinks its looking for \\backofficestorage. Old server was DC added new server as additional DC, installed Exchange transfered info, de-moted old server,

There are several things you have to do before removing the first Exchange server from your site. See article Q252486 for more info. There are severeal articles on this on MS site. You need to rehome a few system folders as well as RUS, etc. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help,
The only problem left is the NNTP, I'm getting the error of :
Event Type: Warning Event Source: NNTPSVC Event Category: None Event ID: 101 Date: 09/04/2002 Time: 10:11:47 User: N/A Computer: NTSERVER4 Description: The server was unable to add the virtual root ' for the directory '/Internet Newsgroups' due to the following error: The parameter is incorrect. The data is the error code.
And:
Event Type: Information Event Source: NNTPSVC Event Category: None Event ID: 90 Date: 09/04/2002 Time: 10:13:34 User: N/A Computer: NTSERVER4 Description: The virtual server 1 has completed an active feed from/to msnews.microsoft.com. Status is FAILURE.
Within IIS Admin under default web site there are 3 items that have errors:
Exchange Exadmin Public folders
This may be a red herring, I've found an MS document that says to re-install exchange, but I can't find what the relationship between IIS and exchange, It also effects Sharepoint server.
